Weekly Radio Program

Mission:

To celebrate the artists that make up the Valencia College School of Arts and Entertainment faculty, staff, and student body.

Strategy:

We will promote arts events at Valencia College by interviewing artists and students connected to those projects.  We hope that by offering insight into the process and experience we can grow our audience.

We also hope to bring awareness to the scope of SAE.  Our school encompasses 10 majors, and our faculty are not only teachers, but professional, working artists.

We believe that by sharing these candid interviews we can shine a light on our accessible, equitable teaching philosophy.  Our faculty teach because they choose to.  They teach at Valencia College because they are dedicated to the mission of equitable access to high-quality arts training.  They believe in creating inclusive community that meets students where they are.

Why:

In reference to arts training, it is often heard that “those who can’t do, teach.”    This can be an especially common assumption when considering professors at 2-year colleges.  With this radio show, we want to set the record straight.  The School of Arts and Entertainment is made up of artists who are active professionals in Central Florida and across the country.  They also happen to be incredible teachers, devoted to nurturing resilient, professional artists.  We want to showcase the skills, vision, and humanity of our community and reduce the stigma of the pursuit of the arts.
