Performer

Presence-driven performance rooted in listening, restraint, and physical specificity

I work as an actor and performer across contemporary theatre, devised work, puppetry, and interdisciplinary performance. My performance practice is grounded in presence, full-body listening, and precise physical choice. I am drawn to work that values subtlety, generosity, and the electricity of what happens between performers, space, and audience.

My work often lives in the liminal space between movement and stillness, sound and silence, anticipation and release.

Performance Practice

As a performer, I prioritize listening over display. I am interested in what emerges when attention is shared rather than claimed, and when performance choices are grounded in impulse, physical awareness, and specificity.

My performance practice emphasizes:

  • Moment-to-moment presence
  • Clarity of physical and emotional intention
  • Restraint and precision
  • Responsiveness to partners and environment
  • Sustainable, repeatable choices

I am particularly attuned to non-verbal storytelling and the expressive potential of stillness.

Forms & Contexts

I perform across a range of forms and production contexts, including:

  • Contemporary and classical theatre
  • Devised and ensemble-based performance
  • Puppetry and object performance
  • Interactive and immersive work
  • Site-specific and interdisciplinary projects

My experience across disciplines allows me to adapt quickly to new processes and performance environments.

Puppetry & Object Performance

A significant portion of my performance career has involved puppetry. I approach puppetry as an extension of ensemble acting, in which focus, impulse, and listening are transferred into an external body.

As a puppeteer, I emphasize:

  • Giving focus rather than taking focus
  • Precision and economy of movement
  • Shared impulse within ensemble manipulation
  • Sustained presence over virtuosity

This work has deeply informed my acting, even in non-puppetry contexts.

Relationship to Audience

I am interested in performance as a shared experience. Whether in a traditional theatre, public space, or interactive environment, I approach the audience as active participants in meaning-making.

My work often invites:

  • Quiet attention and contemplation
  • Emotional resonance through understatement
  • Awareness of time, space, and proximity
  • A sense of anticipation and longing

I am drawn to work that trusts the audience.

Experience & Background

I have performed regionally and internationally, including at the Varna International Theatre Festival in Bulgaria. I have toured extensively as a performer and have experience working in festival, educational, and community-based contexts.

My background as a director, choreographer, puppeteer, and educator informs my performance work, allowing me to engage thoughtfully with process, collaboration, and storytelling.
